About this deal

It may happen that some information may vary for reasons with do not depend on us and therefore there are differences between the data on the site and those present on the products delivered. Piemonte (or Piedmont) is the second largest region of Italy, found in the north west of the country. Foods in season offered a genuine connection to something more mystical, not least at Christmas and New Year when ancient rituals and Christian celebrations offered a few days of rest and celebration. Created in the same style as centuries-old recipes by Bistefani, these cocoa-flavoured Krumini biscuits are further enriched with rich dark chocolate chunks.

Arborio, Carnaroli and 11 other varieties of rice are grown in paddy fields, irrigated by river water.Because that’s what Krumiri like: they love high-class company and can only be paired with flavours that produce sublime sensations. Casale Monferrato is mostly famous in the rest of Italy for two reasons, one of which is unfortunately a sad history related to an asbestos factory, "Eternit". Her passion is fed by the pleasure of doing things just as they should be done, and done well of course, like in times gone by. It’s like longingly following a smell, a fragrance that wafts out of a confectioner’s kitchen, filling the air of a town’s streets, enchanting the senses and imagination, and thereby perpetuating the history of those who instigated and nurtured that passion. The location was the Oval Lingotto exhibition center in the city during Gourmet Expoforum, the largest area ever to accommodate the competition with its 1300 seating capacity.

The Krumiri are placed on trays at just the right distance from each other before being put in the oven. The strips of dough are cut by hand into small portions with a special cutter and each one is bent by hand into the traditional moustache shape, just like Victor Emanuel II’s moustache. The process may be simple, but it demands a wealth of experience and a true passion for the art of baking.

It’s a match made in heaven, perhaps because some of Italy’s best grapes grow on the Monferrato hills not far from where Krumiri are made. All gourmets have their weaknesses and their favourite flavours, so it’s easy to match Krumiri with your liqueur of choice, creating a flavour you’ve never experienced before. The only thing that softens the mixture are eggs and butter, giving Krumiri their special irresistible fragrance.
